Sawdust & Steel offers residential carpentry and renovation across the GTA. Decks, kitchens, bathrooms, framing, trim, roofing, and siding each ask something different of a house. The starting point is always what you want the space to do.
Our approach is practical: work through the layout, understand the existing conditions, and make the scope clear before construction. Spend attention where it changes the result. A beautifully chosen finish still needs the right work underneath it.
You do not need to arrive speaking construction. Bring your ideas, your questions, and the things you are tired of working around. We will help turn that conversation into a project you can understand.
Four rules we hold ourselves to.
Think it through.
A layout should work with the doors open, the chairs pulled out, and real life happening. Resolve the awkward corners on paper before building them.
Care about the hidden work.
Flashing, backing, connections, and waterproofing rarely make the favourite photo. They still deserve careful planning and the right materials.
Keep people in the loop.
Your home is also a work site for a while. Agree on access, protection, cleanup, and updates so you know what to expect next.
Finish with a clear handover.
Walk the completed work, record remaining items, and keep the care instructions and warranty together. Good aftercare starts with knowing what is covered.
