Sawdust & Steel
the warranty

We stand behind every nail.

Coverage runs from two to ten years, depending on the work. See the trade-by-trade terms below, what is covered, and how to get help. A crew member will inspect a reported issue within five business days of your call.

coverage by trade

Six tiers. One standard.

Different kinds of work wear differently over time, so each trade gets its own warranty window. Here’s what we cover and for how long.

  • 10year warranty

    Structural Work

All framing, load-bearing elements, beams, posts, and structural modifications, ten years on everything that holds the rest of the house up.

  • 5year warranty

    Finish Carpentry

Trim, molding, built-ins, and custom cabinetry, five years on the fitted work and finishes.

  • 5year warranty

    Windows & Doors

Every window we set, every exterior door we hung, five years on flashing, shims, weather-barrier integration, and hardware operation. Manufacturer glass and frame warranties stay intact; ours covers the install.

  • 5 / 2year warranty

    Decks & Patios

Structural integrity (posts, footings, joists, ledger) for five years. Surface materials (boards, railings, stain) warranted for two years against manufacturing defects and installation failure.

  • 3year warranty

    Kitchens & Bathrooms

Cabinet installation, tile work, and every fitted element, three years on the installed work, including grout, drawer slides, and waterproofing seams.

  • 5year installation

    Roofing

Your manufacturer material warranty stays intact. We add five years on our installation work, flashing, fasteners, ice-and-water shield, ridge vent, the whole system.

the fine print

What’s in. What’s out.

What’s covered

  • Material defects in workmanship, bad cuts, misaligned joints, anything we built wrong.
  • Structural settling or shifting caused by installation errors, not ground conditions.
  • Hardware failures, hinges, drawer slides, fasteners, brackets installed by our crew.
  • Water infiltration caused by improper flashing, sealing, or caulking at our transitions.

What’s not

  • Normal wear and tear, including ordinary wear from daily use.
  • Damage from misuse or neglect, skipped maintenance, overloading, aggressive cleaning.
  • Acts of nature, storms, flooding, fire, falling trees, ice storms, earthquakes.
  • Modifications made by others after we finished the job.
  • Cosmetic preferences that change over time, a change in preference is not a defect.
