A pot that used to fill while you found the lid now gives you enough time to reorganize the cupboard. Before ordering parts, establish whether the change belongs to one faucet, one temperature or the whole house. Those are different repair paths.
Compare four settings before touching a tool
Try cold alone, hot alone, normal stream and spray, then compare another fixture while other water users are off. You are looking for a change from normal, not expecting every faucet to produce an identical stream. Note whether the problem started suddenly after plumbing work or slowly over several months.
Other fixtures also weak
Investigate the supply pattern before replacing the kitchen faucet.
One temperature weak
Record which side; the restriction may be upstream or in the faucet.
Only one outlet mode weak
Check that model's aerator, spray head or diverter instructions.
A spray head is not always a removable aerator
Moen: Kitchen faucet low flow separates aerator, spray-wand and diverter checks. Moen: Faucet aerator cleaning also shows why an exposed threaded aerator and a concealed one need different handling. Find the model number or photograph the faucet for the manufacturer. Pulling on a decorative ring with pliers can damage the finish without opening the right part.
When the instructions permit cleaning a removable screen, protect the drain so small parts cannot disappear, record their order and keep the hose from retracting into the faucet. Use the maker's cleaning method; an aggressive descaler is not automatically safe for the finish, seals or plastic. Reinstall the correct parts and compare flow again before moving farther into the faucet.
If cleaning changes nothing, stop buying random parts
A weak hot side deserves a different investigation from a weak spray pattern. Tell the plumber or manufacturer the settings you tested and whether the under-sink shutoffs were recently operated. Do not force a stiff old valve or disconnect a supply line to see what happens. A valve that starts leaking has turned a slow pasta pot into a different afternoon.
Keep the rated aerator or flow regulator specified for the faucet. A deliberately efficient new tap may feel different from the old one; debris removal restores intended operation rather than changing its design. If you also find dampness below, follow the under-sink water checks before continuing to use it.
