The plates are clean. The cycle is over. Later, you open the door and find water you distinctly remember paying the machine to remove. Before deciding the dishwasher has retired early, work out when the water appears.
Timing is more useful than the puddle alone

These are starting points, not diagnoses. Take a photo and note whether anyone ran the tap between the end of the cycle and the discovery. Avoid repeated test cycles if water is leaking outside the appliance.
What the high loop actually means
A high loop is a raised, secured section of drain hose beneath the counter. It is not a knot, and it is not simply spare hose coiled on the cabinet floor. The shape and connection arrangement must match the installation instructions.
Bosch installation instructions, document 9001244440, show both high-loop and air-gap arrangements and specify hose heights for the appliances they cover. They also require compliance with local plumbing rules. Those dimensions are an example of model-specific instructions, not a universal Ontario installation recipe.
Ask the installer to compare the actual route with the manual for the exact dishwasher. A hose clipped high yesterday may have been pulled down when a new waste bin was fitted today. It can also kink where it passes through a cabinet or behind the machine.
An air gap is a different thing
An air-gap fitting creates a physical air separation in the drainage arrangement. Calling a high loop an air gap does not give it the same function. Let the plumber establish the permitted connection for the appliance and local requirements; do not remove an existing fitting just to clear counter space.
- Photograph the visible hose route without disconnecting it.
- Keep the model number and installation manual with the renovation records.
- Ask whether the receiving drain, clamps, and any new disposer connection were checked.
- Keep stored items from pressing on the hose once the work is complete.
Finish the repair with a real drain test
Have the installer demonstrate the completed arrangement and check for leaks with everything back in its final position. If the routing is correct but the problem remains, the appliance may need service or the drain may need further work. A higher loop is not a cure for every pump, valve, or blockage problem.
During a kitchen renovation, include this in the handover alongside door clearance and future removal access. A dishwasher should be able to clean the dishes, drain the water, and eventually leave the room without taking the floor with it.
