Choose the right lane before buying
The official site and Save on Energy summary separate the program into two useful lanes. The amounts below are the public headline maximums checked on August 23, 2026. They are not quotes and they do not replace the terms for the exact measure.

- Check whether it belongs to a single or assessment-based path.
- Confirm the property, product, and contractor are eligible.
- Complete any required pre-assessment or application step.
- Keep model numbers, invoices, reports, photographs, and proof of payment.
How does the three-upgrade bonus work?
The program's current help and support page says assessment-stream participants can receive a $500 bonus after completing three or more qualifying upgrades when the post-renovation home energy assessment is on or after January 5, 2026. Count the program's upgrade categories, not the contractor's invoice lines. The FAQ treats windows and doors together as one qualifying upgrade, and attic plus cathedral-ceiling insulation together as one. Replacing three windows does not make three upgrades. Have the energy advisor mark the qualifying categories beside your planned work before you count on the bonus. Do not add an unnecessary project just to collect it.
Three mistakes that make rebates disappear
- Buying first and checking later. Some streams have timing, assessment, or product-list rules.
- Hiring from a cold call. Save on Energy publishes scam guidance and authorized provider links. Use them.
- Subtracting the rebate from the renovation budget before approval. Budget the full invoice; treat the rebate as pending until it is paid.
