Less debris is different from no maintenance
IKO's gutter-maintenance guide presents guards as a way to reduce cleaning frequency. Tree type and local debris still matter. Ask how the selected system is inspected and cleared, including material collecting on top rather than inside.
Observe it in ordinary rain
From a safe ground position, watch corners, outlets, and places where roof valleys concentrate water. Note whether water enters the gutter or overshoots it. A guard will not correct every existing slope, capacity, or discharge problem. Arrange qualified access where cleaning or inspection cannot be performed safely from the ground.

- Confirm cleaning access and the written maintenance requirements.
- Watch the installed system during rain from the ground.
A worthwhile guard reduces a chore you actually have. Be wary of judging its value by a chore that supposedly disappears forever.
